Me and my Art Director, Frank, in the home office.
I'm Natalya Byrne, a London-based freelance Graphic Designer and Artist. I completed a foundation year at University of the Arts London before making the leap up to Nottingham, where I gained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from Nottingham Trent University.
Post-grad, I've explored my love of branding: during my internship at creative-networking company, Loopmusic.co, I had the opportunity to lead and launch a comprehensive rebranding. As for art, I'm proud to say that I completed a very honouring commission for The Roger Williams Institute of Hepatology, memorialising the late Professor Roger Williams. I've also worked in editorial design at fashion research agency, Colechi, where I edited and co-designed their first journal.
I most recently spent four months contracting as Graphic Designer at AI start-up, Faculty, where I contributed to the maintenance and development of brand identity. A stand out project that I lead was in designing a full new set of branded icons for use in marketing materials.
Why art? Why design?
I love art for it's ability to delve into the raw material of a subject, to illustrate a story and pose a question. My love for design is rooted in it's ability to answer a question: my motivation is always to understand a problem and find an impactful solution! I enjoy the subjectivity of art and objectivity of design in equal measure; you'll see a little of where I bring these two together in my poster work!
What I care about...
In my portfolio you'll see my favoured subjects to investigate, ones that I find importance and purpose in. Including Women's Issues, Gender, Wellness, Music and Gen Z.
